The National

Paradise lost will be found after a word
   from our sponsor:

See here, sister.
El Greco and Dali are on the wall
“They drew so well”
And hear the sacred dance-music
“How nice”
It keeps on playing
new and improved
But it’s just not fair
to surround oneself with culture
and not let it
touch

I’ve just been handed a musical note
lah-de-dah
World War three inevitable
That’s the news tonight
gnight. Click.

After awhile the news hurts.
Culture’s no protection then you must decide
When the walls come tumbling down
the reading stops and
a leap is made
into the soft
water

That snowy night
we agreed
the world had a
bad cough
you
were pretty
as a picture.
Paradise regained.
Ah, culture.
