Down Fourteen Floors

Today I hate symbolism
I say today it’s dead
I can’t feel anything subtle enough to be graced by words that way
I know that in the grocery store I could have died for
Happiness and was shocked that my epiphany was so sharp.
I know that all my guts feel tight, and it makes me
Feel anxiously dissolute when you talk about the picture
You have of two butterflies fucking.
I know that sometimes I feel not even nothing and later like
I will just cease to exist if enough pain were to come.
Today the greatest philosopher in the world threw
Himself out of his window
A girl behind me asks “Why?”
