On the Avenue

Light rarely shoots from a star,
Still, last night on the avenue
I remember your voice;
You saw something fall.
Just like that.
I dropped my watch
Almost a minute later,
Maybe that was what you meant.
While we both let the night eat our skin,
Together, blue and feminine, we forgot what time it was.
Today at the grate,
My watch will probably roll down the drain,
Originally, an escape for the rain.
