Medusa

If I were Medusa

I would pluck out one of my almighty hairs
And wrap it around your neck
              And pull you close
              And whisper:        love me,
                                  hold me,
                                  stay with me.

But I am not Medusa

              (nor profess myself to be)
So I will arm myself with mortal coils
That will slowly wind around your heart
              And pull you close
              And hiss:           love me,
                                  hold me,
                                  stay with me.
