Prologue: Storm Warnings

Without a beginning or an end
the threat is endless
In realms of corrupt on
a litany of animals
seeking the correct mammal
The eternally damned
doomed to perish

Bordered by a dangerous sea
where half - wild men roam
to the edge of the wind
in the fever of progress
burning books to build the lies

The rumours of roses
White, red, black
Driven out to die
Drancy polices its own
flesh against flesh
a pound equals a life

Ticket to Mauthausen
Surveillance by vigilant eyes
watching the ruined and abused
those marked for destruction
nowhere to run        to hide
the world denies      denies

‘They must be removed from public view
                 where their presence is provocative’

The orgy of destruction
refinement in sadism
but it did not ruffle the witnesses
from beginning to end

‘They dare not walk the Grunwald!
   Such constant provocation
      ought not to be allowed - - - -’

Victims with no voices
souls screaming no sound
the Darkest Hour still to come
the world cries amnesia
