Cult Freedom

     I’ll not ask for forgiveness.
     Begging is not my cue.
     Understanding means much more
     And is my greatest virtue.
Guide me to no promised land,
Thy hand shall lead no more.
The earth on which we’ve lived
     Shall protect us as before.

So! I’ve spurned your watchful eye.
And blackened hopes of faith.
Believing in myself, it’s true
Has become accustomed to my tastes.
I shall rise above thee.
I shall glory find, indeed.
I shall see my freedom
In thoughts expressed, and now freed.

     Others need your comfort.
     Dwell within their home.
     Devils cannot hold me.
My soul is free to roam.
     Love you like no other
     If they surely please.
But I shall live without you.
     Never on my knees.

Clowns on a Swing

Twirling in wide arcs
   While gently cascading
Over the bar and
   Back up again.
Clowns on their swings.
   Painted red smiles
Laugh as they mesmerize
   Their audience with
Circular rounds.
   Up and down, around
And around, back
   And forth with
Rhythmic time.
   Slowing down...
Rocking to and fro.
As time stands still
They move on with
   Motions to cease
   The busy day of life
With graceful ease.
