EDITOR’S MESSAGE:
Despite a few hastily assembled meetings and quick decisions about the format and contents of this issue of Fathom, we, the editors, feel that what is offered here is an interesting assortment of poems. In dealing with works to be selected for final printing it is not always easy to say which ones are worthy of inclusion and which are not. For students to judge other students’ writing tact and care are required to ensure objectivity and impartiality wherever possible. Therefore, we have attempted to include, as often as we could, something from just about everyone who submitted their poetry.
I must thank the board members for their helpful comments and suggestions; we have learned from our critical experience. Together we wish to make known our appreciation for all the contributors who endeavoured individually to create, only for us to now be able to compile their works into one inspiring collective effort. Let’s hope we have succeeded in pleasing our readers.

Posey...is an art of imitation...with this end, to
     teach and delight.
                                   - Sir Philip Sidney

There is no frigate like a book
     To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
     Of prancing poetry.
                                   - Emily Dickinson
