Man and Child

I was walking down the street and I saw a man
and a child
walking in the same direction.
For some reason
I assumed they were together.

However, when they reached the corner
they parted;
the man crossed the street
and the child turned down the block.

The child seemed quite all right
on his own,
but the man seemed incomplete
afterwards.

the little deaths

The ends of dreams
come like little deaths
that take us apart
piece by piece.
Yet, as always,
there does usually come
another dream for inspiration
to keep one moving
until the real death
should come upon us
and release us from
the little aches
into something
