Outside the Pyramid

a new page torn open slowly with
the answers a mirage on the horizon.

it is so strange just the same; seeing
everything is all we must expect.

and look at him –
spirit’s convict
licking the heavy drops
from the crypt’s iced wall.

flesh
withers to medicine
in the unbound sun of Egypt.

scorched black,
I lie still and breathe
slowly and deeply, feeling
God hold me in spell –
I float.
