Silkworms

My heart is in your breath
catching in my throat.
a lie of the softest kind. My departure
is a drawn-out sigh
like a closing door.
shutting off the sun,

Your lies
are clouds, a windy house
for the airplane we have made.
Our engines shudder with a destination,
but my parachute unfolds–
a drawn-out sin,
made of silk and worms’ hearts
